Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is the document by which you grant to your spouse or some other trusted person, the power to handle your affairs in the event that you were to become incapacitated. If needed, this would prevent an otherwise expensive and time consuming guardianship. The Power of Attorney can be worded to take effect either immediately or only in the event that you were to become incapacitated. It is very important to have a Power of Attorney in place, especially in that event of incapacity.
